Welcome IBEW Member

As an IBEW member who works in the Sound and Communications sector of the electrical industry, you are on the forefront of a tidal wave of change. The Sound and Communications industry is one of the most rapidly growing segments of the economy, and the fastest growing category in the electrical field. The demand for qualified technicians has skyrocketed, due to the popularity of the Internet, fiber optics, and advancements in integrated systems. Over 4 million IBEW Sound and Communications man-hours were logged in Northern California alone in 2000.

The IBEW has partnered with NECA to meet this demand with a highly skilled and professional workforce, and an ongoing focus on training. Sound and Communication technicians receive rigorous professional training at the JATC (Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee) facilities, which are jointly maintained by IBEW and NECA.

The IBEW/NECA focus on Sound and Communications training ensures that union workers are the only reliable source for meeting the growing needs of customers in this area.

As the communications technology industry continues on a path of rapid growth and fast paced change, the IBEW is succeeding in its strategy to pursue this huge market and meet the industry’s enormous demand for skilled high-tech workers.
